Once in a great while you can come up with a pattern you like the very first time, but frankly, chances are not in your favor. We’ve been there. We developed our patterns over the years and offer them so that you can get started right away rather than having to go through the process of developing your own. Decoys made from these patterns work, in the field and in competition. They are printed on 24# blueline paper.
Goldeneys really are common along the Maine Coast, and this hunter pattern captures the essence of the species, offering several different head positions. High head, low head, male and female are all represented. If you're skeptical about adapting a given body pattern to a different position, then we might suggest you check out a copy of Basic Decoy Carving which illustrates how that's done.
