The largest of the wherries, with her balanced ketch rig she is a superb sailer (plan for the alternate sloop rig is included). She can be built simply and left open, or fancy with mahogany deck and oval cockpit. She is one of the loveliest small craft ever designed. This is a very versatile design, with four different sail arrangements. We have built them as small as 18' overall and as long as 19'-11". Believe it or not, several of these have been built as "first boats" by folks who characterized themselves as novices! From the photos we've seen, they did beautiful work. Don't think you can build one? Others have. The Trap Skiff in our home page carousel is a case in point. Areion was built by a father, daughter, and son, all of whom characterized themselves as novice boatbuilders. That just goes to show what determination and the right information can do for you.
Please note, however...Where the NTS is the most challenging of our boats to build, you are well advised to read this book to assess the task before you, prior to investing in the plans or the lofting.
If you've ever thought that you would rather see a boat being built rather than just reading about one being built, you've come to the right place, and it has all been made possible by digital photography. We selected 185 of the best photos to illustrate the construction of Thank You from setting up right through rigging and selecting her boat trailer. In the process, there are photos of lining off and spiling operations, plus getting out and fitting the planking. The planking section alone runs 40 pages. There's a lot more, so much, in fact, that this CD is the equivalent of a 142 page book containing 185 photos. That's a lot of information. here's a glimpse inside...
